Wellbeing

Physical Health

Children engage in a range of different activities both indoors and outdoors to challenge and develop their core strength. We play games that incorporate and develop key skills such as catching, throwing and balancing, as well as having various wheeled toys where the children can enhance their spatial awareness and gross motor skills. The children particularly enjoy taking part in obstacle courses and parachute games in our garden.

Oral Health

Practitioners engage in open discussions with children regarding the importance of brushing their teeth, and the types of food and drinks we should consume to ensure our teeth stay strong and healthy. They are also encouraged to engage in roleplay consisting of brushing the teeth of imitation mouths and dolls.

Nutrition

Children learn about nutritional value and the importance of healthy eating through their own preparation of daily snacks, cooking sessions, experimenting and sampling foods from around the world.

These activities also enhance children’s fine motor skills development, understanding of local community, the world around them and promotes confidence and self-discovery.

Emotional Literacy

We explore emotions every day during circle time by singing the hello song, where we ask each child to express how they feel.

Emotional recognition is vital in a child’s discovery of their sense of self. We support children in their journey of emotional awareness, exploring how different emotions make us feel and behave. We guide children using problem solving games/role-play, self-made emotion books, videos, stories and art.
